ABOUT MAGICIAN MARTIN IARRERA
From magic box to magician.
My passion for magic began at the tender age of six with a magic box. This spark ignited a lifelong journey that began in 1984 with a basic course in magic at the first magic school in Switzerland.
After graduating from business school in 1990, I was drawn out into the world: I toured with my magic show and worked part-time in the magic shop in Zurich. Since 1991, I have dedicated myself entirely to the art of magic as a freelance magician. I have also been a primary school teacher since 2024 and teach part-time at a school in Zurich.
My training covers a broad spectrum: from traditional magic with Pedro (CH) to masterclasses in manipulation and street magic with Jim Cellini (USA) to further training in stage, theatre and improvisation with renowned teachers such as Bob Fitch (USA), Ed Bordo (USA), Jürg C. Maier (CH), Gaston (D) and many others. I have also trained in the areas of singing and clowning.
The collaboration with my "house directors" Jürg C. Maier and Gaston over almost 20 years was particularly formative. Together we developed over ten short magic theatre programmes, some of which are still being performed today.
To date, I have enchanted my audience in over 5,000 shows. I am a member of the Magic Circle Switzerland (MRS).
